The typical argument for ObamaCare is that it will offer better medical care for everyone and cost less to do it, but occasionally a supporter lets the mask slip and reveals the real political motivation. So let's give credit to John Cassidy, part of the left-wing stable at the New Yorker, who wrote last week on its Web site that "it's important to be clear about what the reform amounts to."
Mr. Cassidy is more honest than the politicians whose dishonesty he supports. "The U.S. government is making a costly and open-ended commitment," he writes. "Let's not pretend that it isn't a big deal, or that it will be self-financing, or that it will work out exactly as planned. It won't. What is really unfolding, I suspect, is the scenario that many conservatives feared. The Obama Administration . . . is creating a new entitlement program, which, once established, will be virtually impossible to rescind."
Why are they doing it? Because, according to Mr. Cassidy, ObamaCare serves the twin goals of "making the United States a more equitable country" and furthering the Democrats' "political calculus." In other words, the purpose is to further redistribute income by putting health care further under government control, and in the process making the middle class more dependent on government. As the party of government, Democrats will benefit over the long run.
This explains why Nancy Pelosi is willing to risk the seats of so many Blue Dog Democrats by forcing such an unpopular bill through Congress on a narrow, partisan vote: You have to break a few eggs to make a permanent welfare state. As Mr. Cassidy concludes, "Putting on my amateur historian's cap, I might even claim that some subterfuge is historically necessary to get great reforms enacted."
No wonder many Americans are upset. They know they are being lied to about ObamaCare, and they know they are going to be stuck with the bill.
• If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes
• If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?
• If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan's holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?
• If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?
• If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

• If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to "Cinco de Cuatro" in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the fourth of May (Cuatro de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?

• If George W. Bush's administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?
• If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans, would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?
• If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?
• If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?
• If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?
So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can't think of anything?
Don't worry. He's done all this in 10 months; you'll have three years and two months to come up with an answer.
GOD BLESS AMERICA
Something for you ladies out there!
Obama sent his wife to suggest the Olympics come to Chicago on a Tax paid Jet, yet he also came in on another jet, again on another tax payer jet, to do what? Was it to check in on her, or he felt she was not effective enough to handle it at her level?? Just wondering your perspective!Read More
Oh, by the way, after how much did we spend; 1,2,3, or more in millions of our wasted tax dollars, even the almighty one could not mend that fence; so with this said, how does this look as the most powerful individual in the world? Funny too, they waited until they were on the plane to call and tell him/her/them, I mean us.
An interesting letter in the Australian Shooter Magazine this week, which I quote:
"If you consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq theater of operations during the past 22 months, and a total of 2112 deaths, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000 soldiers.
The firearm death rate in Washington, DC is 80.6 per 100,000 for the same period. That means you are about 25 per cent more likely to be shot and killed in the US capital, which has the strictest gun control laws in the US than you are in Iraq ..
Conclusion: The US should pull out of Washington, DC."
EVER GET THE FEELING THAT SOMETHING ISN'T JUST RIGHT IN CONGRESS?
Sorry Charley...
No more StarKist Tuna for me .....
SNOPES" VALIDATES THE FACTS BELOW :
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's home district
includes San Francisco .
StarKist Tuna's headquarters are in San Francisco , Pelosi's home district.
StarKist is owned by Del Monte Foods and is a major contributor to Pelosi.
StarKist is the major employer in American Samoa employing 75% of the Samoan work force.
Paul Pelosi, Nancy 's husband, owns $17 million dollars of StarKist stock.
In January, 2007 when the minimum wage was increased from $5.15 to $7.25,
Pelosi had American Samoa exempted from the increase
so Del Monte would not have to pay the higher wage.
This would make Del Monte products less expensive than that of its competitors.
Last week when the huge bailout bill was passed,
Pelosi added an earmark to the final bill
adding $33 million dollars for an "economic development credit in American Samoa "
Pelosi has called the Bush Administration "CORRUPT" and many other things !!!
How do you spell "HYPOCRISY" ?
SHE'S SHAMELESS....
EVERY AMERICAN SHOULD GET THIS E-MAIL.

Want our Senators to have the same health-care, then read below, copy link to your browser, and sign!
I have always thought that Congress should be using the health care and retirement (Social Security) that they built for the rest of us. Maybe then they would get something done. I signed on.
Given the latest outrage ... Rep Fleming has a pretty interesting survey.
Congressman John Fleming ( Louisiana physician) has proposed an amendment that would require congressmen and senators to take the same healthcare plan they force on us (under proposed legislation they are curiously exempt). Congressman Fleming is encouraging people to go on his Website and sign his petition (very simple - just first, last and email).
I have immediately done just that at: http://fleming.house.gov/ .
Please urge as many people as you can to do the same!
If Congress forces this on the American people, the Congressmen should have to accept the same level of health care for themselves and their families.
I must be on the wrong page…
A vehicle rated at 15 mpg, driving 12,000 miles / year = 800 gallons / year.
A vehicle rated at 25 mpg, driving 12,000 miles / year = 480 gallons / year.
So, the average clunker transaction will reduce US gasoline consumption by 320 gallons per year.
They claim 700,000 vehicles were traded – so the savings is 320 X 700,000 = 224 million gallons/year.
That equates to a bit over 5 million barrels of oil or about 1/4 of one day's US oil consumption.
5 million barrels of oil costs $350 million dollars at $75.00 / bbl.
So, we all contributed to spending $3 billion (cost of the cash for clunkers program) to save $350 million.
How good a deal was that?
But they will probably do a great job with health care though!
Sleep well!
Above Her Pay Grade
This poor woman is in so far above her pay grade that I want to weep. Interesting to note that this is a democrat questioning her. An absolute colossal train wreck is heading our way!! Subject: Bailout Shame
I beg every one of you to view this page's video. It's shocking that we are being bamboozled. Who the hell is in charge? Who the hell feels any sense of responsibility? Where are the news networks? I'm heart sick because I know that there will be no changes made. We can't fight 'em and we surely will never win. This is totally unbelievable.
