We try to resist it but
it says, “Ready or not, here I come.”
In order to grow stronger through
change we must: (1) Give up. Don’t be an escape artist, trying to
avoid the stress that accompanies change. There is no escape; change is
inevitable. Stop regarding it as an enemy and make it your friend.
Only when you decide to ride the horse in the direction it’s going, will
you get to where you need to be.
(2) Wise up. When we’re hit with
sudden change, our “fight or flight” instincts aren’t very good at
handling it. But there’s a solution. By entrusting our lives fully into
God’s care and asking for His wisdom, “he takes us firmly by the hand
and leads us into…change” (Ro 2:4 TM). God loves us the way we are, but
He loves us too much to leave us that way.
(3) Toughen up. Somebody
quipped, “If it wasn’t for stress, I’d have no energy at all.” Stop and
take inventory. Are you making it harder on yourself than it needs to
be? Are you speaking faith or fear? Are you convincing yourself you
can’t handle the changes? Are you ready to give up without even trying,
or trusting God?
If you’re struggling to make sense of the situation
you’re in, read these words: “Under [the pressure of change], your
faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t
try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become
mature and well-developed” (Jas 1:3-4 TM)
The Encouraging Word
As HE Cares for Little Creatures, HE Cares Even More for Us
How
many times have you seen birds fly from branch to branch? They alight
for awhile, sing out their joyful tunes, and then fly off again.
Their
lives are very busy. It's hard for you to follow them, but they have a
very special purpose in My creation. Just one of their purposes is to
be appreciated by humans.
I made many of them to be brilliant and beautiful, and to have their songs fill the air with joyful praise to Me.
They are My gifts to you. Watch them. Listen to them. Study their carefree joy.
Their
little lives are not easy. They must stay constantly busy in order to
survive. And yet not one of them will fall unless I know about it.
As I care for these little creatures, I care even more for you.
Sing a song of joy and praise to Me now. It will lift your spirits as you go about your day.
Remember the lowly sparrow, dear one.
I love you even more.
So very much more.
Daily Scripture
"Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?
Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father's care.
And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
You
must focus on the Lord, not the storm. We all know what it’s like to
“see the waves.” You begin a new venture—a job, a relationship, an area
of spiritual growth—full of hope. Then you encounter storms and
setbacks. Jesus said, “Here on earth you will have many trials” (Jn
16:33 NLT). Expect it; it’s part of the journey of faith!
You must
feel the fear and do it regardless. Growth requires taking on new
challenges. Each time you do you’ll experience fear, because growth and
fear go together. But each time you risk leaving the boat it means
you’re more likely to do it again. And each time you step out on the
water without drowning, you realize that fear no longer has power over
you. On the other hand, each time you resist God’s voice and choose to
stay in the boat His voice becomes a little quieter until eventually you
don’t hear it at all. Wouldn’t it be worth any risk to avoid that?
Furthermore, staying in the boat doesn’t guarantee your safety; it only
guarantees you’ll eventually die from something else. The answer to
fear is to get out of the boat a little more each day, until fear loses
its hold on you."
"In
the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word
was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through
Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life,
and the life was the light of men."John 1:1-4 NKJV
"For
a Believer, beginnings are important. The opening verse in the Bible
describes what God did "in the beginning." John's Gospel tells us that
"in the beginning was the Word," making it clear that this "Word" was
Jesus. In Greek, He was the logos, the revealed "Word."
The
beginning of every year provides an opportunity to think about our
past: What mistakes have we made? What do we wish we'd done
differently? However, the beginning of a year also can turn our
thoughts to making a new start.
Each of us has an opportunity to
begin this year with the revealed "Word" if we'll read, study, and
meditate on the Bible. Many people say they're Christians but fail to
live according to the Bible. They wonder why they don't experience the
joy, peace, and power promised in the Word. The key, for all of us, is
to start our lives with His Word and make it the foundation for
everything we do.
How are you going to begin this year? Make a
commitment to read and study the Bible daily, starting every day with
God's Word. Read through the whole Bible this year.
If you
face difficult choices, God's Word can give you clarity and help you
make wise decisions. It can provide guidance and shape your heart and
mind. It can keep you from evil and deception in the world. It can give
you a victorious lifestyle. And it will prepare you to receive more of
God's blessings, every day."
Even now in the reaches of your soul, I am stirring memories of Me.....of My love and care for you. Do you remember how you were guided through that situation not long ago? Somehow you knew where to go and what to do. That was Me.
Do you remember feeling alone and hurt? I put My arms around you.
Did you feel that there was no way you could continue on any longer, but then, somehow, you were able to gather strength and get through it? That was when I picked you up and carried you.
When I see you so concerned, I wish our time on earth was over and I could open your eyes and more clearly reveal My absolute presence and complete love in your life. Then you would never feel alone or afraid.
Look for the signs of My gifts to you in the sky: in the glorious sunrise, the beautiful sunsets and the colorful lights playing through cloud formations.
Be reassured, My child, I am with you always.
"And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Tell
me, did Cinderella and Prince Charming live happily ever after without
WORKING OUT ISSUES or without an occasional STRUGGLE? Did Sleeping
Beauty and her Prince live happily ever after without any TRIALS? Did
Rapunzel or Thumbelina live happily ever after without LOSS? Did Jack
from the Beanstalk live happily ever without RISK? Are there any fairy
tales without any DRAGONS?
Then where in the world did we
ever get the notion that to"LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER" means to live
without TROUBLE or any of the above-mentioned circumstances? For when
we look at fairy tales we find it's not the absence of
DRAGONS........but the TAMING of dragons.......that brings "HAPPILY EVER
AFTER."

ARE YOU READY TO GIVE UP?
by Eugenia Bambas , on Sunday, October 24, 2010
"A man was there who had been ill for thirty-eight years." John 5:5 NASB
This man defined what it meant to feel helpless and hopeless, to conclude that nothing would work.
He
was "ill." The Greek words here tell us that the years of battling
illness had taken its toll. He was weak and felt the impact throughout
his whole body".
He believed that God could help him, for he
continued to wait by the pool "for the moving of the waters," waiting
for an angel to stir up the water. Whoever then was first to step into
the water would be healed (vs. 3-4). Year after year, he waited, but
nothing changed.
Jesus "saw him lying there, and knew that he
had already been a long time in that condition." Jesus confronted him
with a simple question: "Do you wish to get well?"
(v. 6)
The
Greek words here can be applied in numerous ways, meaning to be in
sound mental health, emotional health, physical health, and spiritual
health. It suggests having balance."
Then Jesus merely spoke a word, and the man was made completely whole.
Today,
Jesus asks the same question of people young and old, from every type
of background: "Do you wish to get well?" (v. 6)
What about
you?
Are you content to simply live with the problems and conditions
you face? Do you really believe that God can intervene in your life?
All the while, Jesus is ready to hear you and give you what you
need-whatever you've been waiting for. Right now, you don't have to
wait. Jesus is standing by your side, ready to help and provide what
you need. He is asking: "What do you want? Do you really want to
change? Do you really believe I can answer your questions and solve
your problems? Do you really believe I can heal you and perform
miracles in your life?
Don't doubt, but believe!
Are You Chasing After the Wind?

"Huram...sent
him ships and servants who knew the sea; and they went with Solomon's
servants to Ophir, and took from there four hundred and fifty talents
of gold and brought them to King Solomon." 2 Chronicles 8:18 NASB
Ophir-a
place of mystery. Was it located in Africa? On the Arabian Peninsula?
India? Today, no one knows for sure. But it was well known in Bible
times. In fact, a thousand years before Christ, ships were built that
traveled hundreds of miles at sea to this faraway land.
"Ophir" is
first mentioned in Genesis 10:29 as being an ancestor of Shem. In Job,
Ophir is described as a place associated with gold (Job 22:24). David
himself gained riches from Ophir, providing 3,000 talents "of the gold
of Ophir" to help build the Temple (1 Chronicles 29:3-4).
Ophir
and its gold became a kind of obsession to Solomon. He arranged for
Huram (king of Tyre) to provide ships and seamen for a journey to
Ophir. Together with Solomon's servants, they returned with an
unbelievable amount of gold: in modern terms, about 16 metric tons!
The kings that followed Solomon continued to be attracted to
the riches found in Ophir. We read, for example, how "Jehoshaphat made
ships of Tarshish to go to Ophir for gold, but they did not go for the
ships were broken at Ezion-geber" (1 Kings 22:48).
Ophir and its gold may have become an obsession for Solomon and others, but it didn't bring lasting peace or happiness.
It
can be easy for all of us to have Ophirs of our own-places that become
fascinations, objects that dominate our thoughts, experiences that we
crave. But in the end, the Bible tells us that all of these things will
be like "chasing after the wind" (Ecclesiastes 1:17 NIV).
Don't
spend your life trying to amass the temporary things of this world.
Make sure that you're seeking riches that will last for eternity:Invest in the Kingdom of God!
Missing the Mark
September 19, 2010
"All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus."Romans 3:23-24 NASB
Michele Frangilli of Italy holds the Olympic record in archery, set in the qualifying round of the 1996 Olympics. His score of 684 is considered a remarkable achievement, yet it falls short of a perfect score (which is 720). In other words, the best archer in Olympic history fell short of hitting the mark every time.
His failure to achieve perfection reminds us that it's impossible for any of us to live perfect lives. All of us "have sinned and fall short." Paul used a Greek word that means to miss the mark and not receive the prize. Yes, all of us make mistakes-even the very "best" person.
But even though we sin, God has provided a way for us to be forgiven and free. How? We can trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins. This is true for anyone, no matter who we are or what we've done.
For many people, failure can be a crushing experience. It can discourage us and cause us to feel defeated. But God still loves us even when we miss the mark. In His sight, failure doesn't disqualify us from serving Him. Instead, it should lead us to realize that He sent Jesus to take the punishment for our sins. And it should humble us and drive us to seek Him more.
These truths apply to everyone. To you! Remember that you are not perfect. You will make mistakes. And when you do, remember to confess your sins to God. Accept His forgiveness. Then, you can rejoice-you are clean in His sight! But don't forget that the world is full of other people who need this Good News! Tell them how they can beforgiven and set free!"
We Face Many Giants Today!
"Now these are the kings of the land whom the sons of Israel defeated...[including] the territory of Og king of Bashan, one of the remnant of Rephaim."
-Joshua 12:1-4 NASB
When the 12 spies scouted out the Promised Land, their dominant discovery wasn't its abundance or potential but the presence of giants!
They were terrified by these giants.
When the spies reported back to the other Israelites, the whole nation was filled with fear.
As a result, God wouldn't allow them to move into the land. When it finally did come time to enter the Promised Land, the Israelites knew what they faced. God told them that "only Og king of Bashan was left of the remnant of the Rephaim." He was so famed that they even knew his bedstead was made of iron (Deuteronomy 3:11).
Og was a giant, one of the remnant of "Rephaim" (from a word that meant "giant"). His size was intimidating. Along with other giants, he ruled over a vast region, and the Israelites had good reason to be afraid. Yet, armed with faith, they were able to defeat this mighty foe, and the territory over which he ruled was given to them for their possession.
Who are the giants we face today? Mighty armies equipped with terrifying weapons. Powerful media companies that fill the airwaves with their propaganda. Hollywood moguls who spread their hedonistic world view. Anti-Christian fanatics. Zealots from other religions who vow to annihilate God's people.
When we see "giants" like these, do we run away in fear like the fearful spies of Israel? Do we assume that defeat is inevitable and victory is impossible?
Again and again, the Bible shows us how God brings His people victory over "giants"...if they trust Him; if they act in faith; and if they believe that, with Him on their side, they can be victorious over foes or problems of any size.
God, Please Send Your People "Warrior Angels" To Help Us In The Battle for Our Country
"The
LORD sent an angel who destroyed every mighty warrior, commander and
officer in the camp of the king of Assyria."2 Chronicles 32:21 NASB
Throughout history, angels have been the inspiration for many works of
art. Early Christian painters and sculptors depicted angels as wingless
beings with halos.
By the sixth century, much of the art world reflected
the Greek and Roman personification of Victory, portraying angels as
winged messengers, often effeminate.
By the Renaissance, this treatment had evolved, but angels were
still depicted as serene, otherworldly creatures. In 1305, Giotto di
Bondone illustrated an angel with detached reverence in his "The Dream
of Joachim." About 200 years later, in "The Mystical Nativity," Sandro
Botticelli painted angels as childlike and innocent.
While these images reflected the ideas of the times, the Bible
paints a completely different picture: Angels are powerful! In fact, a
single angel destroyed the mighty Assyrian army. Angels delivered God's
judgment and brought His messages to people like Gideon and Elijah, Mary
and Peter. Their appearance often evoked terror, requiring angels to
say, "Fear not."
Visitors to the City of Light share in the vision of these mighty
warrior angels through "The Warrior," by sculptor Mark Patrick. This
9-foot sculpture stands in the lobby of the International Prayer and
Welcome Center. In the spirit of a warrior, the angel appears to be
spinning, as his wings form a tornado-like presence around him.
The Bible tells us that angels are "ministering spirits, sent out
to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation"
(Hebrews 1:14). They are God's servants, always available to accomplish
His purposes. They are not weak but strong, with power beyond our
imagination.
Today, remember that God can do anything, and His angels are more powerful than any foe or force. Trust your life to Him.
The
Foundation of Faith
"The LORD said to Abram, 'Go forth from your country, and from your
relatives and from your father's house, to the land which I will show
you." Genesis 12:1 NASB
Pioneers arriving in the American plains throughout the 19th century
faced constant peril: droughts, storms, violence, and chaotic
conditions. Most settlers had few possessions, and they struggled with
loneliness.
In her book about pioneering women in Kansas, Joanna Stratton
described how the Christian faith enabled many families to survive in
these often hostile circumstances. They realized they could not depend
on their own strength, and instead, they trusted in God to give them
guidance, protection, and wisdom.
These pioneers included the family of Nutter and Nancy Murphy.
Their daughter Lydia recalled how, on October 21, 1859, they drove into
Shawnee, Kansas, a town of just one thousand residents at that time.
Having just arrived, they needed a home, but none was available. Their
best option was to rent the front rooms of "a large ramshackle place."
The rooms were filled with whiskey barrels, but they made room by
rolling these barrels to the cellar.
On that first day, they dedicated their new home to God. Their
family "gathered around the table, seated on boxes and improvised
chairs." They read the Bible and prayed together. And for many years,
they continued to read and pray together every morning and evening.
Following the pioneering example of Abraham in his journey of
faith, this family knew they must depend upon God...for everything.
Today, in our busy, sophisticated world, many place their trust in
governments or businesses, financial resources or armies. But as people
like Nutter and Nancy Murphy learned, the key to success is having
faith in God-letting Him guide you, protect you, and bless you.
Commit your life to God. Depend on His Word. Trust Him.
Our Impact Upon Others
"Go, inquire of the LORD for me and the people and all Judah concerning the words of this book that has been found, for great is the wrath of the LORD that burns against us, because our fathers have not listened to the words of this book, to do according to all that is written concerning us." 2 Kings 22:13 NASB
Over a period of generations, God's people had forgotten about His Word. Even the religion of the priests was based on empty tradition. As a result, they had no anchor and drifted further away from the truths in the Word. This process of drifting established a pattern that was felt for generations--by their children and grandchildren. Finally, when Josiah was king, the Law was discovered by Hilkiah, the high priest. This discovery proved to be a shock--to Hilkiah, Josiah, and everyone in Judah. Suddenly, they had new revelation about the problems they faced. It was as though they saw their own lives and history in a new light. They realized they were experiencing the impact of their ancestors' failures.
The Bible demonstrates, over and over again, how our actions impact the lives of others--people in our immediate family, as well as our neighbors and friends. But we also need to realize the example we're setting for future generations--not only our children and grandchildren, but many others who are influenced by what we say and do. They will either benefit or suffer because of our lives.
Today, think about the impact you're having on the people around you at home and work, in your church and community. But also remember that your impact will continue to be felt far into the future.
Make sure that you honor God with your life. Seek first His Kingdom. Obey His Word. Be an example that will bring others to Christ and encourage them to live for Him.
You Have
A Special Gift!
"These were the sons of the Levites according to their fathers'
households. These also cast lots just as their relatives the sons of
Aaron in the presence of David the king, Zadok, Ahimelech, and the heads
of the fathers' households of the priests and of the Levites--the head
of fathers' households as well as those of his younger brother." 1Chronicles 24:30-31 NASB
To determine assignments for the Levites, the Israelites cast lots.
From a human perspective, this process removed the possibility of
discrimination or preferential treatment. Everyone was treated the same.
The underlying assumption was that God would direct the outcome. There
was no preference based on age or any other qualification. All alike
cast lots, and every person was part of this impartial process.
This system reminds us that God has a plan for every life and that
all of us are special in His sight. Unfortunately, some people simply
don't feel worthy. Many conclude that God could never use them. Some
think they don't have the right training or background, while others
feel they're too young or too old.
But the Bible teaches that each person has an individual calling
and assignment from God. He has given each of us unique gifts and
talents. No one is excluded! He can use anyone--young or old, rich or
poor. The key is whether we're willing to trust Him and be faithful and
obedient.
Today, remember that God has a call on your life. He knows you by
name, and you are special in His sight. He has given you unique gifts,
abilities, and resources. Be a faithful servant with these "talents."
Don't hide them, but welcome the opportunity to serve the Lord and
invest what you've been given into His Kingdom. Realize that you've been
blessed so that you can bless others. And no matter what your age or
station in life may be, remain faithful. God wants to use you!
There Were and Are Conditions
"He set the carved image of Asherah that he had made, in the house of which the LORD said to David and to his son Solomon, 'In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen from all the tribes of Israel, I will put My name forever.'"2 Kings 21:7 NASB
After the completion and dedication of the Temple, God told Solomon that His name would be there forever. He was ready to protect and provide for them, to answer their prayers. But, even when making this promise, God established conditions.
His people were to "humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways." When they did these things, "then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land." And He would hear their prayers (2 Chronicles 7:14). God kept His promise. But His people often took Him for granted and failed to do their part.
We see this pattern again during the reign of Manasseh. He committed horrible sins, even setting images of an idol in God's house. God reminded Manasseh and the people in his kingdom of His Word, consistently given throughout time. Because they had committed sin, they would be judged. He would abandon them and "they will become as plunder andspoil to all their enemies." Why? "Because they have done evil in My sight, and have been provoking Me to anger."
These same principles still are true. God is ready to fulfill His Word and keep all His Promises. But He wants to see how we respond. What we do. Today, don't take God for granted. He is holy and righteous. Allow Him to search your heart and convict you of any sin. Humble yourself before Him. Fill your life with His Word. Obey Him. Seek Him with your whole heart. As you do your part, you can be confident that God will do His part."
What Will Shake You
"I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at ease in my house and flourishing in my
palace. I saw a dream and it made me fearful; and these fantasies as I
lay on my bed and the visions in my mind kept alarming me."Daniel 4:4-5
NASB
Nebuchadnezzar seemed to have the ideal life: He was rich, powerful,
contented, and prosperous. Then, unexpectedly, he had a terrifying
dream. Suddenly, he felt helpless and afraid.
The interpretation Daniel gave him could not have been pleasing.
He was to "be driven away from mankind" and he would dwell "with the
beasts of the field." He would eat grass just like cattle and would
remain in this condition "until you recognize that the Most High is
ruler over the realm of mankind and bestows it on whomever He wishes."
God wanted him to know that all power belonged to Him.
Daniel closed by giving Nebuchadnezzar this advice: "Break away
now from your sins by doing righteousness and from your iniquities by
showing mercy to the poor, in case there may be a prolonging of your
prosperity"(v. 27).
Nebuchadnezzar does not seem to have heeded this advice. Then
suddenly, a year later, he was brought low, stripped of his power,
prestige, and comforts. He was reduced to the life of an animal.
Finally, his kingdom was restored, but only after Nebuchadnezzar
had been humbled and realized that God alone rules, in heaven and earth.
In the end, he blessed and honored God, and gave Him praise. The
purposes of the dream had been fulfilled.
It took a disturbing dream and a horrible punishment to get his
attention.
But we need to realize that God often wants to get our attention.
To point us in a new direction. To teach us, correct us, and give us new
revelation.
Think for a moment: Are you available so God can get your
attention? Are you listening? Sensitive to His voice? Don't let anything
keep you from hearing His Word."
Minds That Are Closed
"He entered again into a synagogue; and a man was there whose hand was withered...He said to the man, 'Stretch out your hand.' And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored. The Pharisees...immediately began conspiring with the Herodians against Him, as to how they might destroy Him."Mark 3:1-6 NASB
These religious leaders had no doubts. They felt that they alone correctly understood the Law and the true meaning of the Prophets. Consequently, no one could teach them anything, and there was nothing new to learn. They thought God wouldn't do anything outside their expectations, and they felt they had the right and responsibility to silence anyone who disagreed with them.
Because of their preconceived ideas, they decided that Jesus couldn't possibly have been sent by God. And there was no way they could be wrong on this conclusion. As a result, they made no effort to understand Jesus or listen objectively to His message. They never sought God or prayed with a humble, open heart and mind. Their only response was to try to silence Jesus and look for a way to "destroy Him."
How easy it can be to criticize the attitudes and actions of these Pharisees. But the fact is that all of us can be guilty of the same kinds of errors. Instead of condemning the Pharisees, ask yourself if you are like them in any way.
Are you teachable or is your mind closed? Are you open and sensitive to the move of the Holy Spirit? Are you listening to God with ears ready to hear, even if that means changing your preconceptions?
Today, humble yourself before God. Seek His face and cry out to Him for greater insights and revelations. Let Him guide you, correct you, and teach you. Remember: There is much more for you to learn!
Driven and Tossed - A Common Feeling of Our Time
January 30, 2010.
"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God...and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord."James 1:5-7 NASB
"On a still day, the sea can be as calm as glass. Then, suddenly, wind can whip the water into relentless turbulence, violent and angry, only to become calm again when the wind subsides." The Bible says this word picture describes how some people react to life's problems. Such people have no peace and don't seem to receive answers to their prayers. They may even read the Bible or attend church, but they still feel like a stormy sea. Turbulent. Restless. Driven and tossed. Why this constant turmoil? James tells us that such people haven't truly asked God in faith. They harbor doubts in their lives, and James says these doubts indicate they are "double-minded"--not really trusting God. In fact, he warns that doubts make them "unstable" in all their ways (v. 8). How easily doubt can fill our lives, causing us to be shaken by our personal circumstances or by world conditions. We can waver and wobble, sometimes trusting God, sometimes trusting the world, and sometimes trusting in ourselves. All the while, God is ready to help. We simply need to ask. But we must ask in faith and expect Him to answer our prayers. We need confidence in His faithfulness to His Word, even when troubling circumstances swirl around us. Today, don't allow doubt to cripple your life. Ask God for wisdom. Focus on Him instead of on your circumstances. Don't waver, but keep Sowing Seeds with the resources He's given you. Declare His promises to be true, and allow your heart to be filled with peace.
A few thoughts about church in 2010 and a prayer for all my friends... by Gail Kilday,Saturday, January 2, 2010
I have been very excited about things the Lord is going to do in 2010 and many of the words that are coming forward for the Body of Christ. However, I am finding that when you try to find people to talk with about the things that are coming, they are not that excited.. I began to notice I am kind of alone with my excitement. I really am very excited to see the Lord as he continues to his fullness, but I don't seem smiles and laughter in the body of Christ as we go forward. I know many on Facebook who are my friends are as excited as me, but out "in the word" I am not finding this to be so. There seems to be a disconnect and so I ask for those that are excited to pray that this spreads to those that just seem not to care. I have found that many churches don't have the Lord's Supper much anymore and that prayer before services is just not going on. The Joy of the Lord is our strength and if we are not happy and looking forward to things, we willl be like everyone else in the world. It is as if we are asleep, we say we love the Lord but then roll over and go back to sleep. People should look at the work the Lord sets forth for them as an adventure, because it is and brings more joy than anything else we can do. I know that each time Holy Spirit gives me a new idea for something, I can not wait to put it into action and I so want to share it with others, but many times they are not very interested in doing something new for the Lord. God has something new for each of us if we are ready and look at it as something of value and that each plan and direction brings forth great joy in our life and that of who we touch for the Lord. It is my prayer that 2010 the body will get up and move around and seek the spitural things, for there is a great work to be done for the Lord this year. This is my prayer:
Father I ask that you will set fire to each one who is your child and that they will be touched by your love and that they will go forward with a fresh look at who they are and see themself as you see them and we pray that those that have stayed in the background will move forward and take their place among those on the front lines of battle. Father give them joy, breath fresh air into them, get them on their feet to dance with passion for you. Use your children to reach the lost and give them words of compassion as they touch people in their life daily.
Father there are wonderful men and women that belong to you that you have connected me with on Facebook and I pray a blessing upon each of them and I ask that this be a year of change for them and that those that have been in a battle in 2009 come out in victory and walk with a fresh word and a testimony of how you brought them through. Father you are the bridge from one year to another and I ask that this be a year that sets the course for new beginnings and a year for victory in all those things that they have stood for so long waiting for you answers to come forward. Father reward your children for many have been faithful and true and they will never stop looking to you for the answers and so we stand together around the world in prayer and we make up the hedge that covers your world and we thank you that we can stand in victory together and that now is the time that you have set for us to rise to the levels that you have wanted for us for such a long time.
Holy Spirit we thank you that you are our helper and we ask that each of us will be a light in our churches everywhere that we worship and we ask that kindness come out of our mouth at all times and that we stand with our leaders, Pastors, and worship leaders in pray and in fellowship and that we remember to show them love and compassion, and respect at all times. We ask that you touch the hearts of each and every person and give them eyes to see your world as you see it, let churches see that you are interested in the whole pictures which is each and every nation and person on earth. Touch the hearts of churches everywhere and let them give freely this year to mission work around the world. Remind us to pray for those out on the mission fields daily and we ask that help come to those that needs workers in the mission fields and we pray that you will send mighty angels to protect them as they stand for you in countries around the world. Father I ask for those that have never joined into work for you, that they would not only come to church on Sunday but that they would do whatever you have for them in some type of work you have saved just for them.
We pray that you will speak the the USA and the governement and that you will get leaders in line with your wishes and we know that you can do this because you have spoken to many kings, and governements in the past and so we lay the US on the altar today and ask that you work out all that is needed in 2010 according to your perfect plan.
Father we pray for all the underground churches and people around the world that are in worship of you but can not come out for fear of harm. Send your mighty angels to these churches and pastors and show those that are against your church that they can not stand against those that stand for you.
Father we pray for Israel and we know that no country has authority over Israel but you and so we ask that you continue to bless and protect your land and your people. Let the world begin to understand that you will not stand for anyone to take the authority away from you. Speak to those that are in authority that do not line up with your plans and let them see what is in store for them if they do not let you be in charge of what belongs to you.
We cancel each and evey plan of the enemy for 2010 in Jesus name and we expect, plan, and give thanks for victory because Greater is he that is in us, than he that is in the world and we claim great and mighty victory in every area this year for the Glory of the Lord. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
"I have seen all the works which have been done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity and striving after wind." Ecclesiastes 1:14 NASB
In his quest to find meaning, French artist Paul Gauguin became disenchanted with Western civilization and sought answers among the primitive peoples of Polynesia. But after moving to Tahiti in 1889, he discovered that this was no Utopia. Facing ongoing unhappiness, he eventually moved to an even more remote island where he built a home called "the house of pleasure." He died there alone two years later, the victim of syphilis.
Many considered Gauguin's masterpiece to be his 1897 painting, "Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going?" In this painting, which he called his last will and testament, Gauguin contemplated "life and death told through a series of figures" from Tahiti. In a description, Gauguin admitted the "sadness in my soul" and the "unearthly consolation of our sufferings." He was left asking questions, but found no real answers.
Despite becoming an influential artist, from a Biblical perspective Gauguin was not a success. He looked for solutions in the wrong places. He built his "house of pleasure," but he never truly found lasting pleasure or his paradise on earth. Many people go through these kinds of journeys, looking for meaning and fulfillment, peace and joy. But the Bible tells us that, no matter where we turn for earthly solutions, we're bound to be frustrated: All this effort is nothing but "vanity and striving after wind."
Ask yourself if you have found lasting satisfaction and real peace and joy. Are you frustrated? Struggling? Directionless? Remember what Jesus said: "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me"John14:6 You will find your answers by following Him--today and every day.
"She had stopped at a red light. Before she even realized the car door had opened, a man had a gun stuck in her side. He demanded, "Lady, just drive. Don't do anything dumb!"
She had just heard a message on Psalm 91. This psalm told her that God was her refuge, that He was her fortress, that He would deliver her from the snare of the fowler, that He covered her with His feathers, that He was her shield and rampart. But in this instant, with a gun in her side and her mind in a whirl, she could not think of the exact words of the Scripture.
In desperation, all she could come up with and exclaim was, "Feathers! Feathers! Feathers!"
The hijacker panicked. He shouted, "Lady, you are crazy!" And as quickly as he had appeared, he disappeared!
Oh, how precious to know that when we can't think of a promise word for word, or when we don't have time to quote a promise for the situation in which we find ourselves, God knows His promises and He knows our heart."

Accusers
October 3, 2009.
"O God of my praise, do not be silent! For they have opened the wicked and deceitful mouth against me; they have spoken against me with a lying tongue. They have also surrounded me with words of hatred, and fought against me without cause. In return for my love they act as my accusers; but I am in prayer."Psalm 109:1-4 NASB
Why are so many of today's news reports prejudiced, unfair, and hostile? In a recent book, a senior news executive blamed problems like these on "the long-entrenched laziness of the media." He concluded that a "herd-like laziness has infected the bloodstream of mainstream news organizations. It runs so deep, they don't even know it's there."
Resisting objective research, such news outlets simply seek to confirm their personal opinions. Their goal often is to get higher ratings, sell advertising, and attract more readers or viewers. Instead of pursuing the truth, many are biased and quick to draw conclusions, unwilling to consider views that differ from their prejudices. And they attack viciously when questioned.
David knew what it was like to face accusers like these. He wrote this psalm amid intense times. Enemies had spoken words of hatred against him and fought him "without cause." He complained that they "repaid me evil for good and hatred for my love." He felt discouraged, vulnerable, and taken for granted. He had been deceived.
As David poured out his heart to God, he realized his only hope was in Him. Others might oppose or curse David, but God would "bless" him, defend him, and make everything right in the end.
Do you face accusers? Trials? Burdens? Worries? In whatever situation you face, be honest with God. Pour out your heart to Him. Seek His help, and depend on His loving kindness. In all circumstances, determine that you will continue to pray. Seek God with your whole heart. He will not be silent, but will be your Defender.
"I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go. If only you had paid attention to My commandments! Then your well-being would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea." Isaiah 48:17-18 NASB
God was not just interested in blessing His people in minor ways. He promised to teach them "to profit" and to direct them "in the way [they] should go." He wanted to give them overwhelming peace in their personal lives, their homes and families, and their relationships.
The Lord wanted them to have an intimate relationship with Him, as individuals and as a people. He wanted to send a wave of righteousness throughout their lives, impacting and blessing their families.
But there was a condition: They had to pay attention to His commandments. This meant knowing His Word, obeying Him, and following His leading. He also reminded them, "There is no peace for the wicked" (v. 22). Yes, ungodly people may seem to enjoy pleasures and rewards, but they never can experience God's deep inner peace-"which surpasses all comprehension" (Philippians 4:7).
God warned His people not to listen to or follow those who promised these kinds of false rewards. They were to "flee" from these influences (v. 20), focus on God, and live according to His Word.
When they remembered the many ways the Lord had provided for them, guided them, and protected them, they were to be filled with joy. And even when everything seemed hopeless, they needed to rejoice that He was with them and would come to their aid.
God promises these same rewards...to you! He will guide you "in the way you should go," teach you how to profit, and give you this same peace and joy. Refuse to follow the false gods and deceptive promises in the world. Instead, seek to know God's Word. Obey Him. Follow Him. Trust Him. Seek first His Kingdom. He will give you His peace!"

Why Do You Want Me to Carry This Thing?! (Don't miss the picture at the end.)
Brenda was almost halfway to the top of the tremendous granite cliff. She was standing on a ledge where she was taking a breather during this, her first rock climb.
As she rested there, the safety rope snapped against her eye and knocked out her contact lens .
"Great", she thought. "Here I am on a rock ledge, hundreds of feet from the bottom and hundreds of feet to the top of this cliff, and now my sight is blurry.."
She looked and looked, hoping that somehow it had landed on the ledge. But it just wasn't there. She felt the panic rising in her, so she began praying. She prayed for calm, and she prayed that she may find her contact lens.
When she got to the top, a friend examined her eye and her clothing for the lens, but it was not to be found. Although she was calm now that she was at the top, she was saddened because she could not clearly see across the range of mountains. She thought of the bible verse "The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth."
She thought, "Lord, You can see all these mountains. You know every stone and leaf, and You know exactly where my contact lens is. Please help me."
Later, when they had hiked down the trail to the bottom of the cliff they met another party of climbers just starting up the face of the cliff. One of them shouted out, "Hey, you guys! Anybody lose a contact lens?"
Well, that would be startling enough, but you know why the climber saw it? An ant was moving slowly across a twig on the face of the rock, carrying it!
The story doesn't end there. Brenda's father is a cartoonist. When she told him the incredible story of the ant, the prayer, and the contact lens, he drew a cartoon of an ant lugging that contact lens with the caption, "Lord, I don't know why You want me to carry this thing. I can't eat it, and it's awfully heavy. But if this is what You want me to do, I'll carry it for You."
I think it would do all of us some good to say, "God, I don't know why You want me to carry this load. I can see no good in it and it's awfully heavy. But, if You want me to carry it, I will."
God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.
I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. (Phil. 4:13)
"Do not be afraid any longer, only believe." Mark 5:36 NASB
"All hope had faded. The little girl already was dead. Her father, Jairus, had hoped Jesus would lay His hands on her "so that she will get well and live." But after receiving news of her death, his efforts seemed to be in vain. Those bearing the news assured Jairus that nothing more could be done, for it was too late. However, Jesus knew that God's time is not man's time. What seems humanly impossible is a small thing for God. He told Jairus, "Only believe."
When they reached the house where the girl's body lay, Jesus asked the mourners, "Why make acommotion and weep? The child has not died, but is asleep" (v. 39). They reacted with laughter. To them, Jesus' comment seemed foolish and laughable.
But He was not deterred by their doubt. He took the girl by the hand and said, "Little girl, I say toyou, get up!" (v. 41) Immediately she arose and "began to walk," and everyone was "completely astounded," even the doubters (v. 42).
Jairus experienced the power of Jesus' words:"Only believe."
The world constantly tells us there are limits. That often makes it hard to understand that God is limitless. With Him, anything is possible! And He invites us to enter by faith into that amazing realm of the impossible.
Today, you may face situations that seem impossible, challenges that seem overwhelming, or adversaries that seem too powerful. You may not know what to do, and it may even seem you've already been defeated.
But remember Jairus. Dare to believe that God can do anything! Step into the supernatural realm where He reigns. Realize the limitlessness of His power and the greatness of His love. Don't let doubt and fear cripple your life, but be willing to move out in faith. Believe....only believe!"
Take the limits off of your Heavenly Father today. Believe He can do all things and commit your situations - itemized, one by one - to Him. Than thank Him for the answers you need!
Security and Integrity
"He who walks in integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out." Proverbs 10:9 NASB
Today, the desire for security remains as strong as ever, as people and nations seek freedom from worry and fear, pressures and anxieties, and the ups and downs of life. But how often do they know what it means to be truly secure?
The Bible tells us that security is the by-product of walking in integrity. We become secure as we free ourselves from the corrupting influences of the world and are clean in God's sight. Our security is enhanced when we make Godly choices regarding our friends and how we invest our time and resources. And security comes as we walk daily in fellowship with God, confidently facing our problems because we're trusting in Him.
In contrast, those who "pervert" their ways embrace a life of sin. Unconcerned about God or purity, they're willing to compromise, cheat, and lie if such things seem necessary to further their ends. But although they may find temporary security, achieve short-term goals, and receive worldly riches and fame, pleasures and applause, they cannot receive the freedom, peace, and rest that only God can give.
Today, seek to be a person of integrity, pure and holy, pleasing to God. Then He will become your Protector and your Shield. He will give you a peace and security that passes understanding.
"Father, I desire to walk in integrity. Cleanse me of sin and hypocrisy. Help me to be pure in Your sight. Thank You that I can trust in You. Thank You for Your peace. In Jesus' name. Amen."
God keeps HIS promises, but often in ways that are surprising and unexpected.
We may face confusing or unexpected situations and we may feel like we've been obedient, yet we face problems that seem overwhelming. We may experience delays, roadblocks, and brick walls that cause us to become discouraged or give up hope.
When facing difficult circumstances, many people allow their lives to be dominated by doubts and questions. Instead of moving forward in faith, they retreat, stop believing, become skeptical, or give in to uncertainty.
Are you faced with hard situations today? If so, remember…..Refuse to give up! Don't give in to doubt or discouragement. Trust in God, for HE "cannot lie" (Titus 1:2).
HIS word is true. HE looks for people with faith, who will believe HIS Word and act on it. Don't place your faith in circumstances, but in HIM. HE keeps HIS promises!
"Be merciful to me, O God, for man would swallow me up. All day they twist my words; all their thoughts are against me for evil. They gather together, they hide, they mark my steps."Psalm 56:1-6 NKJV
David seemed to have done everything right. He was a victorious warrior, married to the kings daughter, best friend to the kings son, and popular with the people. Yet he found himself running for his life, hunted by King Saul, whom he had served faithfully. As he struggled, David wrote Psalm 56. He told God his true feelings, how he felt alone, discouraged, and outnumbered. He complained that people were trampling and crushing him in order to get ahead, and they were twisting his words, oppressing him, and pressuring him for their own advantage. He felt vulnerable and under attack.
But through it all, David realized he could depend on God: "Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You" (v. 3). Others might be selfish and driven by personal ambition, but God was on his side. He could write, "I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?" (v. 4) God was the righteous judge, and He would determine the final outcome.
David was under no delusion that he was perfect. He admitted that God knew his "wanderings," yet he knew that the Lord still loved and accepted him. And even though David was suffering emotionally, he realized God understood the pain he was going through. He wrote, "Put my tears into Your bottle; are they not in Your book?" God cared, and God was faithful.
David testified that God answered prayer. He could call on the Lord and trust in Him in any situation, confident He would deliver him.
Do you ever feel like David? Does it sometimes seem that people are twisting your words or seeking to take advantage of you? Do you feel trampled and outnumbered, vulnerable and pressured? Remember that God is with you. Call on Him, right now. Don't be afraid, but put your trust in Him.
America - Psalm 137
How can we sing the Lord's song in a foreign land? (Ps. 137:4).
Has our own nation become as foreign soil to those desiring to live godly in Christ Jesus? Has America become as an alien land to the saints of biblical promise? Has the land of the free and the home of the brave given birth to such aberrant cultural leanings that Christians are such prisoners of societal pressures that their new hearts are no longer allowed to openly sing God's new songs? Has unrighteousness so captivated an entire nation that the righteous have become shy in their proclamation of righteousness?
In an audio by Reverend Iain H. Murray of April 26th, A.D. 2003 entitled: John Wesley, Why are weinterested in the Methodists?, he reads from a man addressing the national import of a subtle non-applied gospel to those who are perishing:
Men who are destitute of the gospel are destitute of the only appointed means of salvation; there are no other means of fitting men for heaven; there is no other means of turning them from darkness to light. A community without gospel preaching ? There is nothing worth living for in that community. It may be rich in rivers, in ore and luxuriant in soil; it may be watered as the plains of Sodom and as accursed as they. I would not educate a family of children in such a community for all the prairies between the Alleghenies and the Rocky Mountains. Of what value are lands, rivers and forests if the pearl of great price is not there!?
Material prosperity has displaced spiritual concerns in our great land. Morality has become confused with Christianity. The ancient paths of seasonal prayer, the family governing itself in the way of the Lord and observing the Lord's Day as God directs has been forfeited (Jer. 6:16). The necessity of Christians coming to a personal conviction of sin by the Holy Spirit taking out the heart of stone and applying the law of God to the hearts of men is no longer deemed an essential in our homes and churches.
Many Americans have become accomplished manipulators of their preferences. They deny certain responsibilities and yet cry for improved positions. Every person is responsible for his own advancement in this world premised upon his birth-talents, the skills he has labored to hone through disciplined living and the blessings that have flowed to him from the Lord. Academics, societal civility, the virtues of the ages and personal improvement suffer severely when a culture condescends to violate James 2:9 by showing partiality to the undeserving at the expense of those who are laboring in the vineyards.
John Winthrop's Christian political philosophy, following Augustine and Calvin, was not starkly individualistic. The new covenant John Winthrop articulated upon our American shores was radically different from a social contract, because the covenant was not merely an agreement between the citizenry of the settlers, but primarily a commitment to God. The social/cultural/political/religious experiment called America would only succeed if the community followed the counsel of Micah to do justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with our God (Mic. 6:8). Social covenants are pledges of absolute commitment to pursue the good for the whole with the awareness of God's providential hand as the true determinant.
Nonetheless, the economy of self-denial is so foreign a concept in our America that it is actually denied. The belief in an absolute truth is an uncommon occurrence. The verities of America's foundations are being shaken and she is becoming a bare blackened rocky monument to the truth that our God is a consuming fire.
We are in need of clear thinking, plain speaking, heavenly motivated cultural shapers. These know that the well-being of their society is not dependent upon commerce, politics, market stability, manufacturing or service industries, or job creation, but the doctrines of grace being lived and taught as a matter of life and death. Those with understanding perceive what the times demand and aggressively advance the work of Christ. They are riveted upon one matter and they are effectively about their Master's business. Their precise grasp of the most vital matters enable them to articulate a comprehensive declaration coupled with a call to arms.
Who are those graced by God to gift their people with sacred wheat strained of any unholy tares and chaff? Who is willing to speak with urgency and roar with holy thunder? Who will hold forth the mind of Christ though they know that the devil always has the majority in his camp because his is the way of ease, self-gratification, quick indulgence and deathly sleep? There is about those so gifted a sacred way that captures the imagination of onlookers because they ambulate with sacred energy and refuse to fan into flame the strange fires of worldliness.
Are you willing to set forth your biblical perception of the state of affairs in such a manner that others may appreciate the insights your Lord has blessed?
