Some people wonder why the government won’t pay for their health insurance, especially health insurance for their children. Let’s give this a thought. How about everyone gets a job and supports his or her own family rather than relying on the government to take care of them?
I completely understand and feel the pains of bringing up a family these days. It’s expensive! But my husband and I both have jobs and work hard to support our own family. Growing up in New Jersey in a lower to middle middle class family, one of three children, we learned to do with the essentials only. My Mother was a stay-at-home Mom; my father a police officer. Come September when school started, we went shopping for a new pair of shoes and some clothes. That’s it. Birthdays and holidays were special and we did receive presents, but there were not a whole lot of extras. Our parents taught us the value of working for what you need and want. Need first, want second. I’ve been working since I was eleven years old. I learned to save.  Not to say I didn’t also learn how to spend, but certainly by the time I was responsible for other human beings (my own family) I figured out how to take responsibility and take care of them.
Doesn’t anyone have pride anymore? Doesn’t anyone want to stand on their own two feet? Or has it become so commonplace, especially under our current administration, to expect hand-outs, freebies and “someone else picking up the bill”?
Think about it. What if EVERYONE thought that way? Where does all the money come from? I know my children are wise. I know they can take care of themselves and will when they are truly adults. So in our case, it’s definitely being passed down through the generations. Work hard, take care of your family, and don’t rely on the government or anyone else to chip in. The government would be best served protecting us from those who mean to bring harm to all of us—not paying our Blue Cross/Blue Shield premiums.
