Texas Tops Survey of
Best States for Business
For the fifth year running, CEOs surveyed by Chief
Executive magazine have chosen Texas as the best state in the nation to do
business. The reasons the CEOs give for putting Texas at the top
include our low tax burden, our tort and regulatory environments, and
the quality of our workforce. In other words, business leaders cite
Texas' conservative governance as the key to attracting and keeping
business going. Conservative governance leads to jobs for Texans, and
is among the reasons we have one of the healthiest economies in America.
It
is vital that we keep the Texas success story going, and build on it to
keep improving the lives of all Texans, by returning our good
conservative Republicans in office - from county courthouses all the way
to the statehouse - and helping our challengers defeat Democrats in
November. From Gov. Perry to your county, city or town, help re-elect
and elect Republicans who share the Texas vision of strength, freedom
and prosperity. Our future depends on it!
Here is the
Texas record under Republican leadership:
Texas is home
to more Fortune 500 companies than any other state. Over the past
decade, more private-sector jobs were created in Texas than any other
state. Texas has the top cities for success. Texas was the last
state into the recession and is likely to be the first out of it. If
you want to find a career, own a home, have a family and live the
American dream, Texas is the best state to live and work in.
Bill White Runs from his Record
Former Houston mayor and Democrat gubernatorial
nominee Bill White launched a $400,000 media buy in Houston this week.
Why is Bill White blowing so much money to advertise in the city where
he was mayor, six months before the election? Probably because in spite
of his best efforts, his real record is getting out, and that record
isn't pretty.
The Houston that Bill White left behind is deeply
in debt. Bill White's successor has had to hike water rates for
residents by as much as 30%, and she has contemplated furloughs for city
workers including fire fighters and police, along with other cuts in
city services. The Houston METRO is engulfed in a scandal that centers
on the two members who were hand-picked to be on that board by Bill
White.
Bill White's Houston is a mess. That's the record he's
running against, and he hopes enough slick ads will distract voters from
the real issues.
Here's the real issue: Texas can't afford
liberal Bill White.
The Republican
Party of Texas is a genuine grassroots movement that depends on great
Texans like you to stay engaged and in the fight. The Democrats still
intend to pour millions of dollars into Texas to attack our conservative
governance and way of life. We need your support to help keep Texas strong, free and
prosperous.
RPT Update 04/30/10
What Should Texas Do About the Major Issues Facing Our State? Don't Ask Bill White!
Bill White is trying to get into the governor's office without ever having to give a straight answer on major issues. Much of the time he sounds like he's running for the State Board of Education - a board that the voters of Texas elect, but which the radical left allied with Bill White constantly attacks and wants abolished, and for which Bill White isn't actually on the ballot - but he won't answer questions about his own party's major policies. And the mainstream media is failing to hold him to account. When he is asked what he thinks about the big issues, he waffles and filibusters and gets away with it.
Over the past week, concerned Texans have taken it upon themselves to get real answers from Bill White. But being the slippery liberal trial lawyer that he is, Bill White is throwing up a smokescreen to hide his real positions.
And a concerned Texan asked Bill White if he would have voted for the $700 billion bailout - and got no answer at all.
In short, liberal Bill White is trying to have it both ways - he wants the left to think he's on their team (which he is), but he also wants the majority of the state to think he's not a liberal. That's why he won't just give a straight answer to anything. That won't work. Don't be fooled by Both Ways Bill. The Houston that Bill White left behind is deep in debt thanks to his mismanagement, and his serial misdirections mask his true positions: He's an Obama-Pelosi Democrat, plain and simple, and Texas cannot afford his liberal ways and ideas.
Please pass this email to family and friends who may be on the fence about Both Ways Bill. It's time to support our great, conservative Governor, Rick Perry, for re-election!
RPT Thanks Texans for Supporting Attorney General Abbott's Challenge to ObamaCare
A couple of weeks ago, the Republican Party of Texas launched an online petition to support Attorney General Greg Abbott's lawsuit to overturn Obamacare. Recent polls show that a solid majority of Texans support the lawsuit and support repealing Obamacare. But in our petition we asked Texans to put their names on the line to support our great Attorney General. And Texans came through! More than 17,000 of you signed our online petition.
"Texans from all walks of life know that we have a truly great attorney general," said Republican Party of Texas Chairman Cathie Adams. "Greg Abbott's fight is our fight against big government, over-regulation, and Democrat party assaults on our constitutional freedoms. We support Attorney General Abbott all the way!"
How Much Did MALC's Pretend Hearing Cost Texas Taxpayers?
Earlier this week, the Mexican American Legislative Caucus held what it and the media are characterizing as "hearings" on the State Board of Education standards. Those "hearings" were in reality nothing more than a stacked game for liberals to grandstand and bash the SBOE. But the taxpayer money that they may have spent on that hearing is all too real.
The Republican Party of Texas is a genuine grassroots movement that depends on great Texans like you to stay engaged and in the fight. The Democrats still intend to pour millions of dollars into Texas to attack our conservative governance and way of life. We need your support to help keep Texas strong, free and prosperous.
Friends –
Governor Jindal has released several updates today on efforts to protect our wildlife and natural resources from the oil spill headed toward our coast.
He’s declared a state of emergency and is requesting additional funding for National Guard support in the recovery effort.
Tonight I want to specifically direct you to www.emergency.louisiana.gov where you can find the latest information about our state response to the oil spill. There you will also find hotline numbers to report oil on land and injured animals, to volunteer, and to request information related to damage claims.
As our state prepares to deal with this disaster it is critically important for each of us to do all that we can to support their efforts.
Sincerely,
Roger Villere, Chairman Republican Party of Louisiana

Help us get this message to President Obama on the air!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Fellow Republicans,
As you know, President Obama is coming to Asheville this weekend. Trust me when I tell you that his visit is not a vacation, but an expensive political statement. The BCGOP will not leave it unanswered.
Team BCGOP has produced a TV ad that we want to run on the 6:00 PM WLOS news this Saturday. This newscast will be buzzing about where Obama has been in Asheville and our ad will run right in the middle of it.
WLOS will also cover this ad as a news story which will lead right into our "Outreach Program" in the school districts.
Chairman Villere & Rep. Talbot Respond To Vote On Challenge To Obamacare
Republican Party of Louisiana Chairman Roger Villere released the following statement in response to Rep. Kirk Talbot’s (R-River Ridge) proposed constitutional amendment passing the House Insurance Committee:
“Today was an important first step in the fight to protect Louisiana families from the unconstitutional government power grab that is Obamacare.
Congress cannot be allowed to continue abusing power and overstepping boundaries set by our Founding Fathers. Rep. Talbot’s bill sends a strong message that we will not stand for it any longer.
I hope you will join me in contacting your legislators so they will know the people of Louisiana support Rep. Talbot’s amendment. Together we can find the votes we need to get this amendment to the ballot box.”
“The passage of H.B. 94 by the House Insurance Committee indicates this body’s desire to protect the rights of Louisiana’s citizens from outrageous government intrusion into the most personal decisions of the lives of ordinary Americans. The government grab and diversion from democracy that is 'Obamacare' will not be allowed to intrude into Louisiana as the vote of the House Insurance Committee today proved. With the help of hard working Louisianans, we will move this bill through the Louisiana Legislature and on to the October ballot where the voters will finally be given a voice into their own health matters.”
If you're like most Americans, you didn't "celebrate" April 15th at all. You may have dreaded it, or spent the days or weeks leading up to it by gathering up bags of receipts and battling your tax prep software of choice, or you may have even run right up to midnight to get your tax return filed on time. Most of us hate Tax Day, even if we expect a refund, because it's intrusive and a huge hassle that carries the threat of an audit.
You might also have marked Tax Day 2010 by attending, cheering at or even speaking at any of the dozens of Tea Party events across the country. Some of the Tea Party events, like the Lone Star Tea Party in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, drew huge crowds of well over 10,000 patriots who are fed up with government's ever-expanding appetite for our hard-earned money, and its ever-growing intrusion into our lives. Most Americans are fed up with Washington and big government, and rightly so, and Tax Day was a good day to turn out and show it.
This president's policies have put America on a very dangerous path toward unsustainable debt built on out-of-control, and increasing, entitlement spending. This president has done nothing to rein in the size of government - he has massively grown government spending and bureaucracy while the private sector struggles, and will struggle even more as Obamacare takes root. His health care policies will end up raising taxes on families and businesses, and if the Democrats get their way on cap and trade legislation, all of our energy prices will rise dramatically too. President Obama's remarks on Tax Day show that he is extremely out-of-touch with the American people, and that he and his party have become arrogant and full of themselves. Remember this in November, and help us deliver the Democrats a crushing defeat. And then, help us reveal, repeal and replace Obamacare.
(By the way, how appropriate is it that Obama's Democrats held a big fundraiser on Tax Day! They are the tax and spend, liberal party.)
Thank you for making our petition a success!
Our petition drive to show support for Attorney General Greg Abbott's fight to take down Obamacare ends today. It has been a huge success, one for which we have you to thank. If you spread the word on facebook, forwarded our emails, or told friends and family about the petition - thank you! More than 17,000 of you signed it!
You helped your Republican Party of Texas back up our great attorney general against partisan sniping from the liberal Texas Democrats and their front man, liberal trial lawyer Bill White. And you helped send a message to Washington that Texans' reputation for fighting back for our values even against long odds is one that we've earned, and one that we intend to keep.
The Republican Party of Texas is a genuine grassroots movement that depends on great Texans like you to stay engaged and in the fight. The Democrats still intend to pour millions of dollars into Texas to attack our conservative governance and way of life. We need your support to help keep Texas strong, free and prosperous.
Hosts Jindal, Perry and Barbour
Chairman Villere-Hosted Event Brings
Together Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi Governors in New Orleans
(Baton Rouge) – Republican Party of Louisiana Chairman Roger F. Villere,
Jr. hosted an event Friday night which brought together Louisiana
Governor Bobby Jindal, Texas Governor Rick Perry and Mississippi
Governor Haley Barbour. The event, in New Orleans, was seen as a
highlight of a successful weekend in which Villere and Louisiana
Republicans brought in national and regional Republican colleagues to
discuss a wide range of Party and political issues.
“We have a great relationship with our neighboring Governors
in Texas and Mississippi. Governor Jindal and I were honored to have
their support at this event. As always, Governor Jindal brings
excitement and energy to our efforts to move Louisiana forward. I am
deeply grateful to Governor Jindal for all his dedication and support to
this movement,” stated Villere.
“Together with Governor Jindal,
Governor Perry and Governor Barbour, I confirmed my commitment to lead
the fight against outrageous government intrusion into our vital
healthcare decisions, personal lives and our pocketbooks. Our national
government is on an out of control spending spree using everyone’s hard
earned tax dollars and the Washington politicians are using it more and
more to control the choices Americans can make with their own money,”
added Villere.
Support Attorney General Greg Abbott's Fight to Overturn Obamacare!
Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott has long fought for your Constitutional rights, and now he is waging the fight of his career. Attorney General Abbott has joined his colleagues from 13 other states in filing a constitutional challenge to Obamacare, the health care takeover bill that the Democrats passed against the objections of most Americans. Attorney General Abbott's lawsuit could spell the end of Obamacare. But he needs your support.
Show Attorney General Abbott that you support him by signing our petition , at the Republican Party of Texas website. This petition will be delivered to Attorney General Abbott on April 16, 2010. The petition states:
We, the people of the great state of Texas, stand as one to oppose the Democratic Party's assault on our Constitutional rights through Obamacare.
A majority of Americans believe that the Democrats' tactics in passing Obamacare constituted an abuse of power. Yet the Texas Democrats stand with their party, not the people. We will not stand by while Democrats elected by Texas voters vote for the unconstitutional individual mandate forcing Texans to purchase insurance against their will. We will not stand by while the Democrats' statist visions destroy our businesses, attack our family budgets, add unsustainable spending to our state's budget, and pile up trillions of dollars of unfathomable debt to our nation's future. We will not let the Democrats' Obamacare stand, and we stand as one to support our great Attorney General, Greg Abbott.
We call on Texas Democrats to stand with the people of Texas, and not their party. We call on Texas Democrats to put party fealty aside and support our Constitutional liberties. And we support Attorney General Greg Abbott's quest to bring down Obamacare.
Pass this email on to your friends and family and ask them to sign the petition. Spread the word and support Attorney General Abbott and all Texas Republicans as we fight to reveal, repeal and replace Obamacare.
In Case You Missed It...
Jindal: State Suit Possible
Baton
Rouge Advocate By Marsha Shuler And Mark Ballard March 22,
2010
"Gov. Bobby Jindal said Monday he wants to fight the federal
health-care overhaul legislation by raising a 'states rights' argument
in court.
Jindal asked Attorney General Buddy Caldwell to file a
lawsuit that would exempt Louisiana from the health-care bill, which the
U.S. House passed late Sunday and is expected to be signed into law
today...
Jindal said the health-care revamp legislation pushed by
President Barack Obama amid Republican criticism, violates the 10th
amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Requiring the purchase of health
insurance is an improper use of 'the commerce clause to impose a mandate
on our people,' he said.
The 10th Amendment says that states
have the powers not granted to the national government nor specifically
prohibited in the Constitution.
'This bill shifts huge costs to
the states and basically violates the 10th Amendment of the
Constitution. I’m hopeful our attorney general and the other states that
join in this will be successful in reminding Congress there is a 10th
Amendment,' Jindal said at a hastily called news conference in the
Governor’s Mansion.
Jindal also said he would pursue legislation
during Louisiana’s legislative session, which starts March 29, to opt
the state out of using taxpayer money to fund elective abortions in the
state’s purchasing exchange.
Two lawmakers have filed legislation
for consideration in the session asserting Louisiana’s rights in the
health-care arena. Jindal said passage of those type bills would help
the state’s case..." Click Here To Read The Full Article In The Baton Rouge Advocate
Last weekend, the Democratic Party
passed a gargantuan, sweeping health care takeover bill over the clear
objections of a majority of the American people. As Speaker Pelosi said
shortly before the bill's passage, it is only the beginning of what the
Democrats want to do. Sen. Max Baucus, Montana Democrat who ran for
office as a moderate, now admits that the health care bill was really about
the redistribution of wealth. Democrat in good standing, Rev. Al
Sharpton brags that the bill is socialism.
President
Obama himself argued against the outrageous individual mandate as
a candidate for the White House, before imposing it on all Americans -
except those in Congress who exempted themselves from Obamacare. The
president also famously said that we could gauge America's bottom line
by watching Caterpillar's bottom line. Well, Caterpillar says that
Obamacare will probably cost the company $100 million. John Deere
says it faces an Obamacare tab of $150 million.
Verizon is warning its employees about the effects of
Obamacare, as doctors contemplate going off the insurance grid altogether
because of Obamacare. And this is on top of the massive damage
Obamacare will do to state budgets.
Just today, the Congressional
Budget Office took another look at the country's financial books and
came to a shocking conclusion: In just 10 years, the national
debt will consume 90% of America's GDP. The Democrats' mad spending
spree threatens our republic's fiscal health.
And to top all of
this off, Obama's Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen
Sebelius, predicts that Obamacare will cost pharma companies
$90 billion in profits over the coming decade. To the extent that this
will prevent pharma companies from developing vital new live-saving
drugs and treatments, Obamacare will literally kill people. This policy
must not stand.
We Republicans will reveal what is in Obamacare,
we will work to repeal Obamacare, and we will work to replace Obamacare
with real reforms that help bring costs down while preserving what
works about the world's best health care system.
We will need
your help and we will need your unflagging support. The Democrats are
already smearing Obamacare opponents, and raising money from the turmoil. The fact is, we
unequivocally condemn all threats to elected officials. The Democrats,
so far, have not. We will all need to stay strong, work hard to defeat
Democrats in Texas like Reps. Ciro Rodriguez, Henry Cuellar, Gene Green,
Solomon Ortiz and every Democrat who supported Obamacare; Bill White,
who won't give a straight answer whether he stands with Texans or with
his socialist party; and Chet Edwards, who is a vote for Nancy Pelosi to
remain Speaker. These Democrats must be defeated and replaced with
common sense conservative Republicans who will pledge to tear down
Obamacare.
Remember in November and help us defeat the
Democrats, as we reveal, repeal and replace Obamacare.
